Public Seminar on Cloud Computing (2011)

The South Pacific Computer Society in collaboration with the Faculty of Science, Technology & Environment (FSTE), USP is organizing a public seminar on cloud computing.

"Cloud computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices as a utility (like the electricity grid) over a network (typically the Internet)".... Wikipedia

As a technological revolution, cloud computing has become a buzzword, often used incorrectly, or mistaken for concepts such as virtualization. This seminar aims at providing an introduction to cloud fundamentals, in hopes of clearing the air on some of the misconceptions, as well as predisposed concerns about issues such as security. The seminar will include case studies as well as discussions on cloud architecture, and deployment options.

Presenter:       Dr. Sunil Lal

President, The South Pacific Computer Society

Time:              6 – 8pm
